A week full of Opportunities to Learn

Wow! We had a world training this week! It was super cool! They focused a lot on the importance of teaching repentance!

We had a good district meeting that the sister from Alameda taught us! I was very worried about them on Wednesday because they had taught 2 lessons and had contacted 0 people… but man they picked it up after that! They put another person with a baptismal date and upped their numbers big time! They worked super hard! I was super happy for them and they were super stoked! The other sisters had their investigator who is going to get married come to church! So that is way awesome! And for us…. we are on the hunt! hahaha. Finding… they don’t progress but we keep looking! I enjoy it here… we are working sooo hard! Just contacting like crazy, asking for references, but little by little we are finding!

So way cool story! A miracle! So Friday we are contacting because our lessons fell through, we see some members from our ward and start talking to them and a man comes up to my companion and it looked like he was going to rob him but he gives him a handshake and starts talking to him. I fisnish the conversation with the members and he tells us that he has been inactive for 26 years. he was baptized because basically the missionaries tricked him into getting baptized…. (so sad) but he says he wants us to come visit him. So we did divisions with members because we had alot of lessons and I went with a recent convert, Luis, he is super cool! And so we start teaching them, we meet his wife… super cool and he tells us… Thursday, he had a dream, he was in the chapel… everything was dirty and he began to clean the chapel… and he wakes up… then Friday, he has a dream that it is all clean and he begins to pray…. he says then I see you guys in the street that same day and I feel like I should talk to you and so I contacted you guys and I am just so happy that you guys are here. I got lost finding his house and he even called us! hahahaha. So sick! So there is some serious potential there!

Well I once again returned to Los Angeles…. and we had an activity with the new missionaries from the CCM in my last area so I also have proselyted there since I have left… hahahahaha. We found a way cool investiagtor who scared the crap out of the noob(new missionary) because I asked him his name and he said I have many… because many people are looking for me… I just recently got out of Jail… AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. The look on the noobs face was PRICELESS! But he was way cool. We taught him and he said he was going to go to church! Wow! Way sick lesson!

This is Carlos! He is from Huaycan, my last area. He came with us almost everyday to do visits, and I ran into him n the Temple!! Awesome!!

And yeah… I had interviews with President today and he helped me a ton to know where I should go to school… ….. To be continued!

Love you guys! Thanks for all your support!

The church is still true, down here in Peru!!

A week of ups and downs!

This week was awesome!!!!!! Super great! Even though some of our investiagtors are falling through and not coming to church… we may have to let them go for a while so they can start progressing. But this week we found some sweet new investiagtors!

I wanted to share a super spiritual experience I had… We went to visit an investiagtor that was not home but his uncle answered and my comp didn’t want to contact him and I contacted him and asked if he had 15 minutes to listen to us and he was like yeah and invited us in.  We started talking and he was like I don’t believe in God and we started talking getting to know him and I felt the biggest impression to give him a Book of Mormon and he accepted and said he would read it. I left him Alma 32 because he has troubles believing… hahaha.. very doubtful… but it was way cool to feel the sweet spirit and be so guided to help him!

So my comp is trying to make me super unfocused…. he prays for my future wife….. so that’s cool. hahahaha.

But all is going well… the area where we are in…. to be honest… not a whole lot of action with people who want to progress… we have people to teach but they need to get married… or be divorced and yeah… so we are trying to visit them less and try to find more people that can progress in this moment but not leaving or dropping totally those families! So we found a girl that says because of friends she has committed some things but now wants to return and be closer to God and the ways she talked about the importance of prayer really impressed me. It was way cool!

Wow! I gave a talk Sunday and it was way cool! Everyone was super happy and thanked me for my talk… I felt a little bad because not very many people said anything to my comp nor the sister that talked but I congratulated the both of them. So yeah…. I am trying to see how I can help my district… we are kind of in a rut… but it’s all good! We just have to keep working hard!

I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have felt it so many times! I invite all of you to READ it. It will give answers to your questions!

The weeks are flying by like the buses here in Peru…

Well this week went by super duper fast!

I would like to inform you all that I was able to do The workout “Insanity” today and I am still alive… so that is good!

I was able to return this week again… to Los Angeles and baptize Janet… because I am literally like 10 minutes from my last area so that was cool! The members were like are you sure you didn’t get changed! hahahaha.

Such a blessing to see this amazing Sister enter the waters of baptism!

This week on Wednesday after giving numbers… they informed me at 10:15 that Thursday, the next day, I had to give my class for my district and I was kind of mad that they told me then… but… I went to work and stayed up til 11:30 and the Lord guided me to be able to be ready to give the class and it honestly turned out super well! It was a good class and the spirit guided me to be able to help them achieve their goals and work better and we saw it this week! Both companionships went up in their numbers and are working super well! So that was awesome! But something that I must always be reminded is…. to be humble… to stay humble and keep working hard!

Me and my awesome companion, Elder Paiva!
Me and my awesome companion, Elder Paiva!

I studied this week about our purpose as missionaries and the doctrine of Christ… and wow. Christ sent His apostles to teach people… why? Because there are people who need this gospel… if all churches (like almost all Peruvians believe) helped us to reach God, there would be no need to preach the gospel… Christ sent his apsotles to clear the confusion, fight the men who were taking advantage and tricking the people to bring them to the truth and free them of their worries… in this world people want to have a purpose, want to fit in, want to know that there is someone who is there to help them… sometimes the things we go through make us doubt… but that is why Christ sends missionaries… maybe not only to help the people but to help a particular missionary grow and become a teacher and fighter of the truth. I feel this pertains very much to me… God calls us on missions not only for the benefit of others but for ourselves… now we must not go on a mission thinking what can I get from this, because we progress and grow more when we serve and help others and lose ourselves in this work.

I love my Savior and my parents and family. Thank you for your letters Davis family, and everyone else for writing me!

Love you guys so much!

A big change

Wow…. a lot happened this week folks… Our Zone was split in two and I was changed like super duper close. Like my area for example is Shamrock Park and I was changed to Ammon… like super close!!!!!!!!!! So that is sweet! I am in Cali still… in an area called San Franciso! So I stayed in CALI! 🙂 hahahaha.

My new mission leader in San Francisco!

It is super cool here! This area can progress well! We have a ton of eternal investigators… like a ton! But it is super! My new companion is Elder Paiva and he is from Chiclayo Peru…. super north in Peru. Super sick! He is super humble and wants to learn! I also have been called again as district leader… but better put as the Relief Society president because our district is me, my companion and 2 companionships of sisters. But they are super cool! They participate and work harder than most elders! hahahah. So that is good! The ward is awesome! There is a ton of recent converts so we are working hard with them as well!

So as you all know Masiel and Evans were supposed to be baptized Saturday and yes… they were baptized… and I was able to go back and see them get baptized! It was super sick! I was blessed to be able to baptize Evans! That was so cool!

Baptism for Evans and Masiel! Awesome!

It was so nice to see everyone and we had just barely had changes so no one knew I had been changed and they acted normal until they realized I was with a different companion and everyone freaked… hahahah. I saw Daniel who we have rescued and sent you guys a picture!

Daniel, such a cool guy!!
Daniel, such a cool guy!!

So a sick miracle! A kid contacted us as we were contacting and invited us to his house and we taught him and he was kind of interested… but his family was way more interested and we palnned a lesson for Saturday! They are sick! So that was way cool! How God worked through someones curiosity to help us find someone who needs to listen!

Investigator and his baby! His shoe must taste pretty good!!
Investigator and his baby! His shoe must taste pretty good!!

So today I read about how Christ can take away our burdens and I found some interesting scriptures… Abraham 3 veres 25… we are to see how we will respond to the difficulty and temptation of evil and then I read in John 10 verese 16 and 17 and in Jesus the Christ… it says this phrase that hit me so hard today…. “He literally gave up his life” like he chose, made the decision to give it up… he also had to learn obedience and complete the plan that God had for him. How crazy! So… how are we honoring His sacrifice in our lives…. 🙂

I know this church is true. Love what I have learned and who I have become, but still… there is a lot of work to do! Love you guys so much and thank you for your support!

Elder Carter and Happy New year!
