Well I just want to start off with the good stuff… hahaha.
I WAS ABLE TO RETURN TO HUAYCAN AND SEE ELDER CARVAJAL (my son) BAPTIZE MACARIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow what an amazing week I have had. I have definitely seen the blessings of the Lord in my life for letting me be able to see this wonderful amazing man be baptized and make a covenant with the Lord. How blessed I am. When he saw me he was like HERMANO CARTER and I gave him the most awkward hug because he can only use one hand. But man, it was so cool! Wow it was so cool and literally the biggest miracle I have ever seen. We were also able to go to the temple with Dayana (a recent convert) and this all happened Saturday… wow what a crazy day! Hahahaha.
Also, Deisy will be getting baptized on Thursday so that is way awesome and she is doing very well. She will need an interview with President Boswell to clear up some things but she is doing very well. She expressed her feelings yesterday and she loved 1 Nephi 3:7 she marked it up in her Book of Mormon. Wow how it made me so happy to see her enjoy the Book of Mormon and recieve answers and help through it.
Oh ya… my new companion… wow… he is awesome. He is from Columbia, Elder Delgado, and he was the only member in his family until his cousin was baptized right before the mission and then while he was serving his mother was baptized… wow… he has 20 months as a member and is amazing. I love the kid… he is like a hood black guy but from Columbia. He always cracks super racist columbian jokes like… in columbia we don’t play soccer or rugby… we play cops and robbers… but with real guns and real robbers. hahahahahahaha. Or about trafficking drugs… hahahaha. But he is way cool and super chill. I enjoy working with him!
Things are going so well! I found some interesting scriptures that I really enjoyed this week… they are found in 3 nephi 15:11-21… and it hit me that this is why we didn’t know all things and why the Book of Mormon came to be and why no one in Jerusalem knew… very interesting and that I am completeing the work of helping those who don’t know, to come to know. I know this work is true and I know my Savior lives and loves me.
Have a great week… happy Thanksgiving to everyone… eat a ton for me! Love ya!
Wow… this transfer has flown by… sooo fast. I can’t believe that today we recieve the changes.
Of all the things that happened this week I think the best part was seeing Steven Espinal on Sunday. He was in my first ward and first area and his cousin is in the ward where I am right now so we got to talk for a second and he told me that Familia Cabello is the most strongest convert and Horestes, the dad, has baptized his niece and nephew and they should be getting sealed in January. To hear this made all the trials, hard times in my whole entire mission worth it. They are going to be sealed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy! I remember sending them a letter every so often reminding them why they were baptized where the goal really is but I never heard back from them. How awesome it was to hear that and how happy I am. Just lifted my spirits and man, so amazing.
Anyways… Deisy was progressing super well but left her phone on silent and slept in until 11… freaking…. that made me kind of sad… but we just got to keep working hard with her and we hope that she can come next week. Ken, we found him and taught him all of lesson 2 and he had questions, we answered them and cleared doubts he has always had and was super stoked to come to church he told us he could come alone… and we were stoked as well and then… he didn’t come either…. But we were to have succes with Angy… the wife of a returned missionary and we see she is preogressing super well and we were trying to put a baptismal date but right before I was going to ask her to be baptized she says how she has fear of committing and stuff like that and I didn’t want to scare her off but then out of the blue she says but I want my husband to baptize me… so she basically was ready and wants to be baptized! hahaha. So cool! We are rescuing the husband as well. So that will be good!
I found some very amazing scriptures today as I studied about opening my mouth and spreading the gospel more and I would like to invite each one of you to read them. They are D and C 24:12-16, 28:15-16, and 29:2-6 and I also enjoyed reading about the faith of Lehi and we see his faith in action in 1 Nephi 4: 4-5. I love this work… I love my Savior and for all the blessings I have received. Yesterday I gave a talk in church about converting ourselves and I found it funny how the Bishop gave me this talk as I have gone thorugh struggles and it was so great to speak and express my feelings. I love how the Lord prepares us to help others. I invite all of you to read that talk by Elder Christofferson when he was a 70. It’s called “When thou hast been converted”. Super awesome.
I thank you all for your support and love. I pray for all of you and your success. Thank you!
Hahahahaha! So we literally had the gnarliest contacts this week.
Tuesday we are out contacting and a lady opens her window and we share our message and then she begins to talk about her church and then she says… And we are all praying for you because you don’t teach the right doctrine and you are sinners and you need to kneel down and repent and ask for God to give you the truth and she slammed the window in our faces. Then we kept going and we were walking back and my companion is like I want to bare my testimony and we knocked and she opened the door and my funny companion in such a nice and peaceful manner asks for a few moments and begins to talk about his testimony and then she just starts going off. Here… the people don’t listen they just talk and talk… hahah. But I told her she needs to pray and ask and either way she will be judged for what she has said. I told her thanks and we left.
Then Saturday we were contacted by a crazy lady that told me my brother, a gringo, stole her plans for her pattern for dolls that she wants to sell and that he needs to give them back and what he has done to her is really mean and she is now suffering… she told me that God bless me and left… after members told me she is literally crazy. Freak it scared me. Then right after that a freaking crazy lady contacted us.. contacted us. So she asked when could we visit because she wants to visit all churchs and take the best and preach it to the people and we began talking and she tells us she was called as an apostle… we begin to talk about how Christ never called woman and she flipped out and was like just because you are a man means you are better than me. hahah. Then she tells us the church forced her to be baptized and then she just magically recieved the Holy Ghost. hahahaha. We tried giving her a card and she rejected it but then she accepted it and she saw the picture of Jesus Christ and flipped again and ripped it up and said we were Satan and commanded us to repent and told us we were false and freaking I started laughing because I thought it was so funny!!!!!!!!!! My comp was trying to battle it out and I just start laughing. Man… good times.
So our investigators are progressing super well! Ken came to church for the third week in a row and is progressing! Daisy did not come but we are going to visit her today but she is gaining a good testimony of the Book of Mormon and told us you need to visit me more so I can be baptized the 22nd!° She is so awesome and her son Benjamin reminds me of little Peetison and I always mess with him and he is the freaking best! I love that family!
I read a talk by D Todd Christopherson and man it is powerful. It talks about how we can be converted and I found a scripture that I really liked in 2 Nephi 9 verse 18 it talks about how we can inherit the Kingdom of God and be converted to the Lord by supporting the cross that we must bear in this world. I really enjoyed this scripture.
We taught a man named Luis.. he told us… Christ came to save the world but he couldn’t do it… I looked him in the eye and said He completed His task… now it’s our turn to do our part. He is super cold and hard hearted… but we will see what happens with him. I told him his salvation depends on if he reads and asks God. I had to be serious with him because this guy is a little hard hearted. But yeah! Great week! Oh, and Olgas daughter had her baby! woohoo! Well thanks for all you do! Love you guys!
So, unfortunately I don’t have a lot of time… but I wanted to begin with a story from yesterday. So after my 4 weeks here Sonia… an investigator…finally lets us in and finally has time… so we begin to talk to her and she says I quit reading your pamphlet and we were like okay… why and she begins to tell us. Like 2 Sundays ago we called her to come to church in the morning she said I am busy something has happened and can’t talk right now. ya okay… so we passed by in the night that Sunday to see her and she was not home. Now yesterday she starts to go off that we didn’t even call her and her son had been in a car accident and starts being all dramatic saying we didn’t even call when we passed by… but anyways…. I hate when people just see their side of the story and then judge…. SO I was not too happy… this lady that had rejected us for four weeks starts burning us… and then… thoughts of I don’t want to be here… I am hungry and I began to lose my focus… and then I realize instead of just going off on her and showing her what’s up about not judging…. I took what before she had said about her store and wanting to help others with work and used the parable about the talents and applied it to her life and how she is helping so many people and just made her feel good and she thanked me and I felt better. I realized how that lesson could have been a total trian wreck if I had gone off on her. I felt so good afterwards for brightening her day!
Well we are working hard. I don’t have any time left! Sorry!!!! I love you guys so much and cannot thank you enough for your support! Chauuuu! Love you all!
