Thank You Everyone!!

So cool!!
So cool!!

Thank you everyone for all that you have done. Thank you for your prayers and your advice and everything. I am sorry that my email is like this. The space bar works sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. Wow! This week was freaking nuts.

So first, the family that we are teaching that are going to be baptized the 7th, they are doing really good. But this last Wednesday we went to visit them and something was wrong I could tell. Atherine had always been a little weird but something wasn’t right. And we began talking about prayer and I was looking for a scripture to share and in my mind I felt like I needed to share Alma 56 verse 47. I didn’t know why but I did and then my comp asked her what she wanted to be liberated from. She went super quiet and didn’t want to tell. And we were likeplease tell us and she wouldn’t. I was like, I want to help you!!! Then Elder Allasia was like, there is an evil spirit here and her brothers, who are members of the church, have been trying to talk to it. It was nuts! She has seen it, felt it and so we dedicated their house. And she asked me to do it! And it was the craziest prayer I have ever said. But after I felt so calm and that all was okay.

We climbed a mountain!
We climbed a mountain!

That same day we found a couple that needed some serious help because their baby has cancer, they have no food, water, lights etc. So we called the Bishop and I got the most confused feeling like something wasn’t right. I told my comp but he was like “ehhh…”. Well it turns out they lied about stuff! I don’t know if they are members. They said they were married which was a lie, and that they were members. And then it caused a little disagreement with our Bishop and Elders Quorum leader. It was a crazy thing.

And today I had an interview with our President of the mission. He said to tell you all that he is so proud of me and that I am doing awesome. He also said that my comp and I are the best companionship in the whole mission. He told me that my comp told him that of all his

companions I have had the biggest impact on him. When he told me that I started to cry. Man, it was crazy. My President told me to just build him up these last two weeks I am with him. It will help him so much. He showed me D and C 121 verse 45 and how we can have confidence in God. This week we worked hard again… 23 lessons and 73 contacts and 6 new investigators.

But I just wanted to share with you all about my changes. Before my mission I wasn’t the most lovey person. I mean yeah, I loved people but I’ll be honest, I avoided talking to people basically because I didn’t want to. Well, when Walter Yaurie came home from his trip to get his papers to get married to get baptized, I freaking hugged the guy. I have changed! I love talking to people. I love interacting and hearing about their lives and what makes them happy! This is true happiness! I know why God is so happy when we pray now. Human interaction is necessary. And then I helped a less active get to know people in our ward so she can feel welcomed and happy in our ward. I love this gospel. I understand its importance. I understand the need for a Savior. I understand how we can have confidence in God!

Thank you everyone! Thank you so much. I am so grateful for all of you. And for everything!

A tough week!

So first off…. we had a miracle! We have someone with a baptismal date! And her daughter and husband are coming to know the gospel too! So that is way sweet!

I ate cow lung one day. It wasn’t too bad. But they just eat the most random things here. Cow lung, with potatoes and noodles. It is just so random. They love this vinegar salad and it is disgusting. It is the only thing I honestly don’t like. I hate it. Just thinking about it gives me shivers.

We had a sweet lesson with a less active member he at first said he doesn’t like church and thinks we should talk more about the Bible, but really it’s because he doesn’t have a strong testimony of the gospel and so we helped him with that. And just before we ended I felt the tiniest prompting to challenge him. And I said I’ll read the Bible if he will read the Book of Mormon. I didn’t know he likes challenges or is really competitive but our Father in Heaven does and through the Holy Spirit, we helped him. It was a way sweet lesson.

Then we met with a contact, and we were getting to his necessity and then freaking Miguel, the only person who will go with us, tells this random story about a fat lady that drank a lot… and the spirit gone. But , I committed him to baptism but he works a lot and doesn’t know when he can meet with us next. So that kinda was rough. Then we visited another less active member and he was talking about how he never recieved a strong prompting that this church was true or that God even exists, and then Miguel tells this crazy story how a girl split her head open and then she recieved a priesthood blessing… and the spirit gone, and him beliving us gone. My comp was furious with Miguel because he began to argue and then I felt super calm and just told him how I know how he felt, how I never recieved this grand prompting but how I came to know it is true. So cool how I was an instrument in the hands of our Father in Heaven.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines day. My comp and I ate cow lung together for a date. Hahahahaaha.

And Sunday I gave a talk in church! It was awesome!!!! I love giving talks! It was sweet! We had 5 investigators come to church and I was just about to give my talk when fam. Jaurie walked in and I just felt the spirit through my heart. It was nuts!

Well, my toe is still infected. Still hurts. And still am frustrated. But a scripture that helped me so much is in Revelations chapter 2 verses 2 through 4 and also D and C 63 verses 8 through 11

Hide and seek in Spanish is escondite. hahaha

Love ya guys! Thanks for all that you do! And for your prayers and support! And for writing me! hahaha

A note from Elder Carter’s Mom: Elder Cafter is struggling a bit with his toes. He has infection in one of them that won’t go away. If you could please remember him and his toes in your prayers it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This week from the little town of Musa!

The Spud in Peru

Freaky spider!! Freaky spider!!

So let me tell you about Musa. There is a main paved road that goes right through the town of Musa and it has everything you could ever want. Dogs, moto taxis, drunk men, wine, oh a weird and annoying music from the mountains. People from the mountains like weird stuff but make some dang good food so I am not complaining. And then everything else is mountain desert, with little huts and shacks everywhere. It is usually pretty hot here. Rained for like 1 minute the other day! The first time in all my mission that it actually rained. Sometimes we have water here, and sometimes not. Dogs here are nuts, but I love them! They are good company and keep things interesting. We had a dog that wouldn’t leave us alone! I wanted to freaking kill it because every other dog wanted to fight it but…

We had a dog that wouldn’t leave us alone! I wanted to freaking kill it because every other dog wanted to fight it but this dog used us as protection! So we eventually chucked rocks at it and water to leave us alone. Then the next day we are climbing up this mountain to visit these people and it finds us again and it was just the happiest dog in the whole wide world. It’s our only investiagtor that won’t leave us alone! hahahahaha.

Elder Allasia and I at the Lima Temple!
Elder Allasia and I at the Lima Temple!

Anyways this week we went to the Temple and it was good. Little different… I don’t know why, but I learned something new, so that was sweet!

So this week, even though I had two more ingrown toe nails, God literally took the pain away because we were going to work no matter what. We contacted 70 people, found 10 new investiagtors, and we taught 23 lessons. I was so freaking tired last night that I crashed but felt just the slightest bit of satisfaction. We wanted 25 lessons but hey! We had a dang good week! The Zone Leaders were so freaking happy! It was so nice! We still are searching for that person who is ready.

I love it here. This area is the freaking best! People here always want to listen to us! They don’t progress but I learned something very important about missionary work. Why do I wake up at 6:30 every morning? Why do I work so hard? Why did I contact 70 people this week? Why do I teach? I read in Matthew 6 about loving God and doing things because we love Him. And that is my goal. Doing everything because I love my Father in Heaven and all He has done for me. So this week was good! Ya know on that missionary grind! But literally I am so happy. I love my life!

Well, keep up the good work everyone thanks for the prayers and everything!

scripture of the week; Matt. 6 verse 19 through 22

ser la flor y nata means to be the cream or be the best. To be the big cheese. hahaha

Musa! Musa! Musa!

Leaving my first area!!
Leaving my first area!!

It’s like USA but with an M! hahahah! I was transferred to Musa in La Molina! Now La Molina is not the capital of Peru yes, but I am on the out skirts. It’s got sick mountains and dust and people crashing on their motor bikes! Oh and in February it’s called carnival and everyone just chucks water balloons or water at everyone, but even better, why not this gringo all dressed up in nice clothes! hahaha. We were on a bus and they threw water balloons inside the bus! I was like what is wrong with these people? But everyone on the bus started laughing and smiling. Wow… and before everyone was sad and gloomy and everyone looks like they hated life until this happened… so everybody… go chuck water balloons at a friend and make everyone happy! hahahaha.

So my comp, Elder Allasia, is from Argentina, and is the big cheese! He is so cool and so chill and this is his last change in the mission and wants to work his behind off! And that is what we did this week! We taught 26 lessons having 1 on Tuesday until Sunday! WOW! And Tuesday I showed up just in time for a baptism! hahahah. So that was pretty cool! My comp suffered from depression for most of his mission and said that it just continued and his mission has been very hard… but he seems super happy with me so that’s sweet! We just kind of feed off of each other! I love him! We had a sick heart to heart sesh like men and talked about our lives and experiences and we are super close! He is the man! He told me that in one lesson when I shared a scripture about testimonies he didn’t know how I was going to connect it and then I did and he was like man you are such a great missionary! hahaha.

The view from our back window!! Sick area!
The view from our back window!! Sick area!

And yesterday, Hmno Miguel a memeber said that I have a special spirit and he is grateful I am in their ward and my comp said yeah one of the best missionaries in the mission. But really this ward is special. And I am so grateful to be here. It is a lot smaller and yesterday I was invited to share my testimony which was way sweet and we confirmed Heder who was baptized Tuesday. Man, I am so blessed and am getting better at interacting with people and gaining their confidence. We share the ward with the zone leaders and one is Elder Dykman knows Sam and he knows Rachel Davis my couz couz and also Elder Duweese is in my zone and knows Rachel so that’s cool! Grandma and Grandpa Carter, do you guys know a Merril? Because he is in my zone and lives in Mapleton. Anyways man our zone is sick! Elder Kent from Idaho, Rasmussen, Dykman, Elder Allasia and Elder Haught! We are getting work done! Oh and I had Pachamanca for the first time which is sweet potatoes and  normal potatoes and chicken and roast beef and lima beans and its cooked in the ground with hot rocks! YUMMMMMM

Anyways, someting I wanted to tell you guys, that change is good. Everything we can learn from and that our relationship with God can give us power and knowledge, but we have to put forth effort. This is something very hard with the people of Perù. They listen and everyhting but hardly act. Now I challenge all of you to act, we know the truth. Now we need to apply it!

Well have a great week!
